About Dr. Sandy Weiss

Dr. Weiss is a coach & workshop facilitator improving healthcare outcomes and staff retention through enhancing wellbeing, emotional intelligence, and resilience. Her goal is to arm individuals and organizations with tools to create a happier and healthier environments.

Having worked in  the professional setting at various levels as well as serving as an educator in academia, Dr. Weiss has seen various types of individuals, leaders, and organizations for which they work. She noticed that individuals who possess those defining characteristics of emotional intelligence seem to be happier both in and out of the office. Companies who embrace and promote those characteristics within their managers or leaders have historically been the most enjoyable organizations to work for, from personal experience and anecdotally from family, friends, and students.

A message from Dr. Weiss

Every day is stressful though to varying degrees. Days that feel especially taxing, I’ve had to dig deep and remind myself of my “Why?” “Why am I doing this?” “Why am I here?” Understanding my “Why?” helps me stay engaged and motivated, it also helps build my resilience, enabling me to bounce back from demanding days or difficult situations in the workplace.

We often face challenging interactions with family, colleagues, or patients. While we may not be able to directly change the behaviors and attitudes of those around us, we do have the power to control our own emotions and our responses in these situations. Our reactions have the potential to enhance relationships and communication with our family, friends, colleagues – and in healthcare, our patients!

After a long day of work, it can be difficult to come home to a busy household. Tapping into our Emotional Intelligence may be able to help us regulate our emotions beyond the workplace and enhance those personal relationships – with our spouses, children, and other family members. It is important to remember the example we are setting for the next generation of leaders. We have the ability to not only improve our own Emotional Intelligence, but lead by example for our youth and loved ones.
